Assembly 3070 Supports Effort Calling Attention to Child Abuse

On Monday, September 17, 2007 members of Father James Knight Assembly 3070 met to prepare American flags that to be displayed in the median just south of the Oklahoma State Capital from Thursday Sept. 20 through Sunday Sept. 23, 2007.

Those preparing the flags for presentation included: Sir Knights Richard Hall, Conrad Reich, Joe Earing, Bob Crissman, Sam Warnecke, Bernie Denker, Tony Galier, Dutch Schultz, Frank Bruehl, and Ed Koehl.

The sobering reality was that each of the 1400 American flags, displayed in the Healing Field, represented a child who had died due to child abuse or neglect across the country, during the past year. In addition, there were 41 Oklahoma State flags displayed that represented 41 who had lost their young and promising lives due to child abuse during the same period of time.

It is hoped that the flag display will call such dramatic attention to this heart-breaking loss of life that many people will volunteer to fight child abuse.
